Englewood: 

Man arrested in robbery

The man who allegedly battered a woman on Englewood Beach and took items from her purse was arrested Tuesday. Loren Curtis Sawyer, 32, 3500 block of Depew Circle, Port Charlotte, allegedly left the 48-year-old victim with serious injuries, according to a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office report. He was arrested on warrants for robbery, felony battery, failure to appear, DUI and driving while license is suspended or revoked. He was held at the Charlotte County Jail on $107,000 bond. Read more...

DeSoto: 

Sebring man injured in Hardee crash

A Sebring man veered off State Road 64 in Hardee County about 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, hit a guard rail and came to rest on the shoulder of the road. The crash took place about a mile and a half east of Bennett Road. The man, identified as Ronald E. Brogan, 48, managed to crawl out of the 1997 Ford just before it became engulfed in flames. Read more...
