Baby V live in concert tonight
From Fort Myers to Hollywood.
American Idol 4 finalist, Vonzell Solomon, known as "Baby V," will perform tonight at North Port High School Performing Arts Center.
After an audition in Orlando for American Idol 4 in 2005, Soloman won her ticket to Hollywood along with 12 other finalists to compete for the title of American Idol.
The local favorite brought her soulful rendition of popular songs, including "Chain of Fools" and "I'll Never Love This Way Again." She finished third, behind runner-up Bo Bice and winner Carrie Underwood.
Solomon's family relocated to Fort Myers from Georgia when she was a baby. Solomon attended high school at the Cypress Lake Center for the Arts. She holds a black belt in martial arts
Soloman completed her debut CD, My Struggle in 2004 and has sung with many southwest Florida bands.
Solomon also shot a scene for the upcoming independent film "Still Green" in Naples. The film is about a group of high-schoolers who rent a summer house for a week. During that week, a tragedy takes place that tests the bonds of their friendship. Soloman has a supporting role in the film, playing record store clerk.
The former postal carrier is currently pursuing recording, acting and modeling projects as well as a national spokesperson for the U.S. Postal Service.
Tonight's performance begins at 7 p.m. at North Port High School Performing Arts Center, 6400 W. Price Blvd., North Port. The evening includes special guests Madison Merrified, rap duo Savallis & Damareous, and a North Port High school vocalist.
